6th Grade Graduation

We celebrated 6th Grade Graduation with Julia last Thursday at Wasatch.
It is sad to think we are finished with the elementary school phase with all of our girls!

Julia was one of the speakers at graduation and she focused on the wonderful opportunities they will have in the coming years. She is great in front of a crowd...clear, concise and confident.

Julia was recognized for her academic achievements, extra curricular involvement and physical fitness.
Receiving her diploma from Mrs. Densley

And a long standing tradition at Wasatch...the Maypole Dance.
I admire the teachers who painstakingly teach dozens of 6th graders every year to cooperatively dance and pull this tradition off with perfection.

Dan did this same dance when he was at Wasatch!
I love all the traditions.
I especially love my soon to be 7th grader!

Congratulations Julia!

Belated Birthdays

Our "birthday week" has come and gone and I never got a post written about these two.
Seventeen years ago my life changed dramatically when we welcomed 2 babies into our family at once!
Since then, our lives have been filled with more love and laughter and sometimes tears, than I could have ever imagined prior to their arrival.
Simply put, I adore and love these two beyond words!

Their lives are SO busy right now as they wrap up AP testing, concurrent enrollment at UVU,
and balance summer jobs which have also started! They are wonderfully unique and different!
I hope the next year goes nice and slow because I just can't fathom them not being here all the time.

Happy Belated Birthday Hilary and Hannah!

Wasatch Track Meet

Julia's last Wasatch Track Meet was Friday.
She ran on a relay team and they won 2nd place!
This group of girls practiced hard and their practice paid off.
As Dan watched from the stands, I sat under the canopy with a few other teachers,
and helped review stats and times for the different events.
It was fun to watch Julia run and see the enthusiasm of all the kids!

Way to go girls!

Provo City Center Temple Ground Breaking

The Provo City Center Temple ground breaking took place this morning.
It was a beautiful, crisp May morning and we were part of a crowd of about 5,000.
We can't wait for the temple to be completed!

The program had a depiction of what the new temple will look like.
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and Sister Holland were just two of the speakers.
There was a wonderful feeling in this outdoor setting throughout the ground breaking.
My girls obliged me and let me take a quick picture on the steps of the old Tabernacle.
It was a memorable day for our family!

Happy Birthday Julia!

My baby girl is 12 today!
I guess she is technically a young woman now.
Oh my, where does the time go?
I remember her birth like it was yesterday...
more nervous about her delivery than any of the others.
Going into the operating room to deliver her by c-section,
I could hear Emily's eight-year-old declaration
that her new little sister would be her "twin" and look like her.
My first thought when I saw Julia Josephine was Emily's wish had come true.

Her big brown eyes and dimpled cheeks make my heart melt.
As the youngest she gets more attention and direction from all of us than she probably needs or wants, but boy, we love this girl to pieces!

Our Julia Jo was just what we needed to complete our family!

Happy Birthday Julia!
We love you!

Catching up on Julia

Julia has been busy...very busy!
With 6th grade wrapping up in a few weeks, she performed in her last Wasatch Choir Concert.
She woke up early in the morning, twice a week for the last 4 years!
She has been dedicated and I'm so glad she stuck with it.

She finished her "American Citizenship" Award (aka Satch Patch).
Another 4 year commitment that included getting good grades, citizenship, extra curricular activities and service hours. This year she got to write an essay about "How We Can Keep America Great."
She is an amazing writer and her latest story left us in awe. Currently, she spends most of her afternoons training for the upcoming school track meet.

And in her free time...she loves babysitting, especially her favorite neighbors!
The biggest milestone of all...she is turning 12 in just a matter of days!
