Happenings

With MORP a few weeks away,
Hannah and Hilary decided to ask to the dance.
They came up with clever ways to ask their dates...

6th Grade Medieval Feast

Julia was Queen for the Day in her class and at school during the 6th Grade's Medieval Feast.
She looked AMAZING! In fact, it was quite impressive to see all the students and teachers in full costume celebrating the end of their Medieval Unit.

For students to be able to attend the feast, they had a major project they had to research and present to their peers. Julia decided to research a French medieval artist, Abot Suger, who renovated cathedrals and incorporated the use of stained glass windows into them. Suger believed that the use of light united the heavenly with the earthly and that the light was representative of Christ.
Together, Julia and Emily painted a piece of glass, replicating one of Suger's stained glass designs.

I'm so proud of this girl! She is a hard worker and dedicated student. Plus, I think she is a pretty cute queen too!

New Beginnings

My sweet and beautiful "baby" girl is growing up so fast.
I sometimes wish I could just slow down the clock or freeze time altogether.
Last evening, I had the pleasure of attending our ward's New Beginnings program.
Julia will be a new beehive in May and so all the girls moving into young women this year were spotlighted. Hannah did a wonderful job highlighting all the things we love about this girl!
And the best part of all, was seeing Julia's pure excitement about the upcoming transition.
Just another reminder that I am getting older...

Family Focus 2012

At the beginning of every new year, our family sits together and discusses what we feel would be a positive, worthwhile focus for our family.
Some years it is simply yet profoundly a scripture.
This year we felt overwhelmingly, with a little help from Dan, that our family focus for 2012 should be...

Living the Abundant Life

as prophetically and beautifully described by Thomas S. Monson.

Christmas Break

We are loving Christmas Break.
I am soaking in every single moment of it before we are thrust back into reality.

Dan and I celebrated 21 years of marital bliss (I'm not being sacrastic, by the way) in Salt Lake.
It gets better every year I tell you.

We have been baking, eating out, doing puzzles, playing games, watching movies and the like.
For example...

Good times!
