A typical Wednesday for Julia consistents of an early wake-up call to make it to morning choir before school even starts. I know she likes to sing, but it is also the place to be on Monday and Wednesday mornings.
She puts in a full day in the fifth grade and after school immediately heads to Scera Theater for two hours of theater with a great group of friends.
When she finally makes it home around 6:30 p.m., she grabs dinner (because we've almost always eaten before she gets home--the dad has to get to church meetings). She quickly yet thoroughly races through her homework and the doorbell usually rings at about the same time. She comes to me with pleading, beautiful, big brown eyes and asks if she can please, please, please play night games with the neighborhood kids.
I always mention the piano practicing that she hasn't done and then I usually give in. I know, bad parenting on my part! I guess she is the youngest and I can't help but see how much fun she has and how she never complains when I tell her it's time to come in for the night. Plus, I know how the neighborhood games change with the weather and there will be plenty of freezing nights to play piano.
