Debussy Debut

Emily debuted her Debussy today at her spring piano recital. All I can I say is that I was proud as punch sitting in the audience. Even though I've heard her practice the piece countless times, I was mesmerized by her nimble fingers running up and down the keyboard effortlessly. It is a joy to watch her truly enjoy playing the piano. Long gone are the days of reminders to practice or cajoling her to go to her piano lesson.

Enjoying the "post-recital" euphoria at Brick Oven with the family.

Gold Medalist

After returning from our trip, Julia heard through the grapevine that she had won the GOLD Medal for the story she wrote and entered into Wasatch's Writers Olympics. The gold medal hung proudly from her neck when she walked in the house from school today.

She was disappointed she had to be at Disneyland when they announced the winners so a blog post will have to suffice this time. Congrats Julia!

Spring Break

Last week the family spent spring break in the Magic Kingdom. It was on the cool side for Southern California, but the sun was shining and we missed a foot of snow while we were gone!

We actually bypassed the teacups this time, but the girls still insisted on a picture.

So fun eating ice cream cones at Paradise Pier and soaking in the beautiful weather.

Dan's favorite ride is Buzz Lightyear--he takes it pretty seriously--I had more fun taking pictures of him than playing the game.

Julia patiently watched the rest of us ride California Screamin' and wisely enjoyed cotton candy instead. All in all it was a blast to be there and just hang out with the kids!

Easter Sunday 2009

Easter morning was wonderful because Dan canceled all but one meeting before church! It was so nice to have breakfast together and family time.

After church we headed to Grandpa and Grandma Snow's house for dinner and this is what Emily found taped to their front door (a picture from prom).

Now off to enjoy SPRING BREAK!

Junior Prom

Amidst the rain and soggy weather, tonight is Timpview's Junior Prom. Emily is so excited!
She had her hair done an hour before her date, Rory, picked her up.

Emily's Aunt Melissa made this stunning dress for her. Melissa is simply amazing--she took an idea Emily had in her head and put it all together in a matter of a week. The final result was beautiful--thanks Melissa!!!

Tonight we get to look for this cute couple on the steps of the county building as they promenade for the parents. What a FUN night for all of us--parents and sisters getting to watch her get ready and leave for the evening and Emily--getting to go to her Junior Prom with such a wonderful young man!

Acting Bug

I believe that Julia has caught the acting bug. She jumps at any chance to perform in a theater production. What makes it all a lot of fun for her is that her cousin Eliza loves it too. Last night the girls performed The Boy Who Cried Wolf and they were fabulous!

What made it an extra special evening was having Grandma and Grandpa Clark there. What a treat to have them staying with us this week!

The older girls know how much it means to Julia to have the whole family there to support her and they did it again. Now we move on to a choir concert, more soccer games and the like.

Most of My Week

Most of my week has been spent hovering over a finance workbook and punching numbers into a financial calculator all in preparation for my next test.

This is what I saw when I looked up from my studies--a very bored looking dog. The test is Monday--yea!
