French Riviera

Prior to our trip, it looked at though it might rain while we were here. Gratefully, the weather forecast was wrong and we enjoyed spectacular weather along the French Riviera.
Our ship docked in a small fishing village of Villefrance and we took tendered boats inland.

The Port of Villefranche
The French Riviera looks just like I had imagined... every view was pictureseque and worthy of a postcard or photo.
Tendered boats took us into the small fishing village

We walked through the older part of Nice and ventured to the large and well-known flower market. The variety and freshness of the flowers, produce, breads and pastries was amazing. I envy the locals who have this fresh market at their disposal every day.

Buying bananas and croissants
Dan and I bought bananas and the largest croissant roll I have ever seen (we shared it). I meant to take a picture of it to show the kids, but we began devouring it before I had a chance.

Cote d'Azur Area
We strolled along the coastline and there were several brave souls enjoying the sunshine...a little too cool for my liking. We saw enough saggy, tan breasts to last us a lifetime as well. This stretch of beach was also very rocky with no sand in sight.
View of the coastline in Nice
It seems that almost anywhere in Europe worth exploring requires countless stairs. This trip was no different. We hiked a series of stairs to a part of Nice that housed a large park and breathtaking views of the city and harbor.

Looking inland
Our next stop was a little further up the coast to Monaco and Monte Carlo where we caught glimpses of "Billionaires Peninsula," the famed Monte Carlo Casino, Grand Prix Raceway, Monaco Palace and gardens, and innumerable high end stores and boutiques.

Photos to come...
