Look Who's 11

This beautiful brown-eyed girl entered the world earlier than expected 11 years ago.
She gave us a scare in the beginning but on Mother's Day 2000, a full blood exchange in Utah Valley's NICU saved her life. Her little jaundiced body slowly transformed into a healthy pink and the delicate procedure proved successful. When we finally brought her home, I remember diligently rubbing her wrinkled little feet, especially her heels. The nurses had advised me to massage her feet several times a day because of the countless pricks her brand new heels had endured in the first week of life.

Julia was a calm and happy baby. She has always received lots of love from adoring older sisters. She and Emily look a lot alike. When I saw Julia for the first time, I recognized the resemblance immediately and smiled to myself, knowing that 8 year old Emily's only wish was that she have a baby sister that looked like her, her "twin" if you will.

Julia's dimpled grin, infectious laughter and enthusiasm for life are some of my favorite things about her.
This past year, I've been amazed at her maturity, perceptiveness, and I've seen the mothering side of her come out. She loves younger children and they love her. She is already a great babysitter.

As hard as it is to believe that my baby girl is 11 years old, I'm so proud of her and the sweet girl that she is!

Love you Jo Jo...Happy Birthday!
