Changes

Our ward and stake underwent MAJOR changes last weekend.
First, Dan was officially released as bishop of our ward. We've known for a few weeks that the change was coming and the timing is perfect for our family.

Dan was called as bishop 3 months after we moved into the Provo Peak 6th Ward almost six years ago. He has faithfully served nearly 5 1/2 years and our family has been incredibly blessed. However, I'm not going to lie, when the Stake President met with us to discuss his release I was giddy. I tried to keep a straight face but it was hard.

When the Stake President announced his release last Sunday, a wave of relief swept over me from head to toe. It was a literal physical sensation I was certainly not expecting to feel when his name was announced. Perhaps the relief comes from knowing that the heavy burdens I've watched Dan quietly carry over the years was now lifted from his shoulders.
After the meeting Sunday evening, we gave the car keys to the kids and sent them on their way while Dan and I euphorically walked home
(I have the blisters from my heels to prove it)!

The biggest bombshell is that our entire Provo Utah East Stake was realigned. Two new wards have been created and we are in one of the new wards now...the Provo Peak 12th Ward. We never thought that our neighborhood could be divided any narrower into wards running east and west, but they managed to do it. The girls are a little disappointed because our youth program will be even smaller now, but we know it is an inspired change that will bless everyone. Dan and I like change and so we are looking forward to a brand new ward!
